Northern Union is a wine focused restaurant + bar in the seaside village of Ogunquit, Maine. Open March through New Years Day, we offer a selection of over 100 wines, crafted cocktails and select local craft beer, all paired with amazing seasonally-inspired food, from small plates to full entrées.
Due to the intimate nature of our space, we can only accept reservations online for parties of up to 4 people. For larger parties please call us at 207-216-9639 and we will be happy to assist you. We also welcome walk-ins for our bar area, living room, outside tables and tree stump tables.

Fine Wine + Good Times, a ten year odyssey
Northern Union is the realization of a dream that began over ten years ago. While visiting a friend in Chicago, owners Matt & Lauren Wickert discovered the "perfect dining experience" during an impromptu stop at a Chicago wine bar. What began as a stop for a pre-dinner drink ended with a night of good wine, excellent food and great conversation. Since that day they have talked about creating their very own space on the East Coast. After an enjoyable career in the Pharmaceutical industry, they decided in 2014 to turn the dream into reality. Knowing that it takes more than just a good concept and a dream to have a successful restaurant and wine bar, Matt & Lauren put together a team of awesome individuals to help them achieve their goal.
Executive Chef Romann Dumorne (formerly of 50 Local in Kennebunk, and The White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport) creates amazing small plates and seasonal entrées, crafting most everything in-house. Bar Manager Tim Yee (formerly of Papagayo, Boston) helms the craft cocktail program with house-made bitters, mixers and other libations. Alicia Towns-Franken (former Wine Director at Grill 23 in Boston and now a wine consultant) worked closely with Matt & Lauren to create a wine list that reflects the best styles of wine the world has to offer with a unique blend of little known labels, and some familiar favorites.
Designing the space
We embarked on a re-design project of the existing restaurant space in order to create the right atmosphere for our guests, as well as signal something new had arrived in town. Since the space was formerly a house, we treated the rooms in kind, creating various dining areas offering completely unique dining experiences. The entire project was a collaboration with the amazing design firm Magnifico Design. From the name (which is a take on Maine being the northernmost state in New England, and the Union of food and wine) to the interior design of the space, Magnifico worked closely with Matt & Lauren to turn their dream into a stunning reality.
